Why Canal Walk's Kart Racing Should Be Right At The Top Of Your Bucket List
On Friday the 14th of June I went kart racing at Century Karting, which is an indoor go-karting track located in the Canal Walk parking area between the Honda and Golf shop. Ticket prices ranged between R195 for beginners and R400 for experts. Beginners would have 6 minutes racing time on the track and experts 15 minutes. My family and I decided to opt for the beginner's option since it was our first time and not having any previous experience when it comes to kart racing. The waiting time was approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, but there were plenty of things to do in the meantime. There was a shop for customers to fill up on snacks while they wait and I decided to make the most of it and buy me a coffee and a packet of Maynards sweets. There was also a pool board and different arcade games to keep customers occupied during the waiting time. The customer service was also excellent, because they held a small meeting with all the customers beforehand and let them know all the rules and how to operate the kart. Some of the rules included having to wear a helmet, having both hands on the steering wheel at all times and not driving recklessly on the track. When we first arrived at the venue I was nervous because it was going to be my first time doing kart racing, but once I was actually on the track my anxiety faded and I just enjoyed the adrenaline rush and the competitiveness of racing against my family. The karts were easy to operate, you just needed to keep your foot on the right pedal to drive and your foot on the left pedal whenever you wanted to brake. At the end of the race we got our results printed out on a piece of paper, which included the name, position and number of laps completed by each driver. My final thoughts on Century Karting is that it's a great venue if you want to have a good time and forget about all of your problems. The costs are expensive but it's worth it in my opinion, because I can definitely see myself visiting Century Karting again in the future.
