He faced many challenges growing up in Manenberg which is an area that's known for gangsterism, but his mother always told him that he should follow his dreams and rise above his circumstances. He was forced to drop out of school at a young age and struggled to find a job. He then dedicated his time to becoming a professional soccer player. In 2014 he decided to leave soccer and focus on doing Gospel concerts. He dreamt of becoming a member of Joyous Celebration and performing on a stage in front of thousands of people. One day at a mother's rally while playing drums a member of the Church told him that she sees pentecostal in him and this is where the nickname "Pinkster seun" actually came about. On Friday the 14th of June I went kart racing at Century Karting, which is an indoor go-karting track located in the Canal Walk parking area between the Honda and Golf shop. Ticket prices ranged between R195 for beginners and R400 for experts. Beginners would have 6 minutes racing time on the track and experts 15 minutes. My family and I decided to opt for the beginner's option since it was our first time and not having any previous experience when it comes to kart racing. The waiting time was approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, but there were plenty of things to do in the meantime. There was a shop for customers to fill up on snacks while they wait and I decided to make the most of it and buy me a coffee and a packet of Maynards sweets. There was also a pool board and different arcade games to keep customers occupied during the waiting time.
