Manenberg Street Party Turns Deadly

Written by Caleb Petersen On Sunday 10 November, isolated shooting incidents in Manenberg led to the loss of multiple lives. This came after a lone gunman fired random shots at a crowd of people early on Sunday morning during a street party in Storms River Walk, which led to the deaths of a 23 year old man and a 17 year old girl with two other men also injured and taken to hospital to receive medical treatment. Later that day the police discovered the body of a 33 year old man with multiple gunshot wounds, who the police identified as Lee Dreyer, the leader of the Americans. It's being claimed that he was killed by his own gang members, because rival gangs would not have been able to come into his territory like that. The Pentecostal Son Drops His Very First Gospel CD

Written by Caleb Petersen Luigi Phillips also known as the "Pinkster seun" (Pentecostal son) has recently released his very own Gospel CD. He faced many challenges growing up in Manenberg which is an area that's known for gangsterism, but his mother always told him that he should follow his dreams and rise above his circumstances. He was forced to drop out of school at a young age and struggled to find a job. He then dedicated his time to becoming a professional soccer player. In 2014 he decided to leave soccer and focus on doing Gospel concerts. He dreamt of becoming a member of Joyous Celebration and performing on a stage in front of thousands of people. One day at a mother's rally while playing drums a member of the Church told him that she sees pentecostal in him and this is where the nickname "Pinkster seun" actually came about.
